Problem: GE (General Electric) is branching out into the world of landline home telephones and came to us for a new website to showcase landline offerings. This market is currently dominated by a company called Uniden but General Electric is trying to tap into the market as well.
Solution: Working closely with GE, we created an ecommerce web site to showcase their land line phone offerings, matching specific logos, fonts, colors, and branding. Boomtown provided a Magento shopping cart—our company uses many types of ecommerce platforms for our various clients, and we particularly like working with PHP open source ecommerce systems such as Magento, SquirrelCart, Oscommerce, WordPress Ecommerce Module, Zend Cart and X-Cart, and we are always open to new carts that will make programming an ecommerce system cheaper and easier for our customers to maintain.
A Magento shopping cart was a great choice for GE—Magento allows for multiple stores to use one cart and for multiple product images to be displayed so that customers can get a better look at what they are purchasing. It also allows coupons and different pricing for customer groups. Google checkout, PayPal, and PayPal Pro are all integrated, along with a convenient one-page checkout process.
We look forward to working on SEO for this client—the Magento cart has the ability to add unique titles and descriptions and keyword rich URLs on pages, and also has a CMS which allows GE to add informational pages which can be used for SEO as well.
