Background:
Two women started a part time business from their home as candy resellers, marketing to school fairs, summer camps, church groups, carnivals, and more. Sandy Candy is edible sand art, a fun and profitable fundraiser project for organizations on a budget—Sandy Candy also has a retail line for kids parties as well—birthday party, sleepovers, and family reunions.
Problem:
Sandy Candy had a very outdated website and a small marketing budget. They needed a bright fun website and ecommerce system capable of handling custom processing and sales.
Solution:
Boomtown introduced Sandy Candy to Squirrelcart, an affordable open source shopping cart and gave them the bright fun redesign they wanted.
Squirrelcart was a great choice for Sandy Candy and many other small businesses because it has everything necessary to run a successful ecommerce site, with many customization choices and inventory tracking, accounting, and UPS integration as well. A great upgrade for Sandy Candy, Squirrelcart was capable of handling the custom processing required for the way they make their sales. The switch from a hosted shopping cart to an open source cart that they own has resulted in big improvements—the cart is customized for their business in that they aren’t just a candy reseller—they sell packages, group kits, banners, and more. Boomtown also helped Sandy Candy set up an email marketing campaign in Constant Contact.
