Squirrelcart Customization

As a web development company, we are continuously asked to work on all types of shopping cart software, and to evaluate shopping cart software for our clients. We’ve worked on any number of PHP based shopping carts, including Zen Cart, X-cart, Oscommerce, and many, many others.

By far, our favorite PHP-based shopping cart to work with is “Squirrelcart.” It is a fully customizable, well-thought-out shopping cart, with lots of features, designed for both web developers and non-techies.

The cart variables, products, categories, customers, shipping options, payment options, orders, and details are stored in a MySQL database, and therefore are fully customizable. The administration interface is intrinsic and easy to use — and it is also fully customizable. The cart supports most of the payment gateways (over 35 of them!). You can get live shipping rate lookups from FedEx, UPS and USPS.

There are loads of great features including inventory control of stock, great image support, and support for an unlimited number of products and categories. Customers can rate your products and share their comments. You can set up coupons, specials and discounts based on rules of your own making. You can even email right out of your cart and send all your customers newsletters and special notifications.

Our favorite part of the cart is its customization.
