How to Get Positive Customer Reviews for eCommerce Website

The average customer is not going to search for ways to leave your eCommerce website a review (unless they have a negative experience to share). That’s why you need to make it as easy as possible for customers to offer a review. Put direct links to your Google place page and review profiles in multiple places like social sites and other business sites.

  1. Make sure your business is listed on as many third-party sites as possible, so that customers have many ways to find you and write reviews spontaneously. Make sure you’re listed on all the following sites
    • Google+ Local
    • Bing Places
    • Yelp
    • Bbb.com
    • Superpages
    • City Search
    • Yellow Pages
    • Angie’s List
    • Express Update USA (formally infoUSA)
    • Yahoo Local
    • Merchant Circle
    • Dex Knows
    • Insider Pages
    • Localeze
    • Shop City
    • Judy’s Book
    • Yellow Bot
    • Kudzo
    • Local.com
  2. Please add Links with clickable images on your website (see the below example), something that customers who return to your site can click on to write you reviews. Here is another example https://www.boomtownig.com/about/review-us/
  3. Allow visitors to review and rate products.
  4. In addition you can send QR code on a little postcard to your customers that asks them to review you by scanning a QR code with their smart-phones. The QR code would just contain a link to your Google Places page, or a link to your Insider Pages listing, etc.
  5. Participate in Comparison sites to get your product reviewed by consumers. Here is a good list:
    • www.consumersearch.com
  6. Social media (Facebook, Google Plus, Twitter, and Pinterest) are great platforms to encourage customers to write personal reviews or tweet about your products. After they do, make sure you respond to their tweets, posts and comments. Take your favorite customer tweets/reviews and publish them on your website blog.
  7. Encourage your customers to share their positive reviews online at major review sites. Here are some examples:
    • Resellerratings.com
    • Ekomi-us.com/us
    • Trustpilot.com
    • Epinions.com
  8. Add your websites on major product comparison websites like the following:
    • Google Shopping
    • bizrate.com
    • shopping.com
    • shopzilla.com
    • nextag.com
    • thefind.com
    • dealsquare.com
    • buzzillions.com
    • wize.com
  9. Sell your products using Major Third-party websites where you can get reviews as well as sales. Here is a good list:
    • Amazon.com
    • Ebay.com
    • pricegrabber.com
    • shopping.yahoo.com
    • Shop.com
    • Newegg.com
    • Sears.com
    • Pricefalls.com
  10. If you are a manufacture it is also a good idea to have re-sellers who can sell your products.
  11. Also make sure you are getting regular reviews on your Facebook, Twitter and Google+ page.
  12. Catch negative reviews, allowing you to try to resolve any issues before they cause lasting harm.
  13. Don’t ignore the negative reviews. Identify which customers are less than happy or giving negative reviews, so you can attempt to turn them back to positive.
  14. Send Auto-responder Thank you emails to your customers (who buy products or registered on your website or contacted you by email). Making sure to include your reviews Link at the bottom of your emails. Send an email to all buyers from your website after delivery of the products “Requesting a Review”. Also send them an email after three months (and six months) requesting feedback on your product.

On a final note, please make sure you are working to get reviews based on your services and products only. Don’t bribe anyone to write a review for your products or for your website. In other words, never try to get fake reviews. These will ruin your hard earned online reputation and trust.
